PAL taps LinkedIn for greater employee skills acquisition

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has partnered with LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional networking platform, to equip its workforce with vital skills for a fast-changing and competitive business environment.

Through LinkedIn’s intelligent skill-building platform, PAL offers all its employees free access to more than 21,000 expert-led online learning courses, including an estimated 60 new courses per week on some of the most in-demand business, technology, and creative skills.

“The pandemic taught us that we need to be agile. We at Philippine Airlines began our journey of digital transformation by strengthening one of our core assets, our people, through the development of programs to prepare them for the demands of the future,” said PAL vice president for human capital Jo-Ann D. Maluenda.

“With PAL Multiversity powered by LinkedIn Learning, we open up a wealth of opportunities for learning and empowerment, helping us build a powerhouse team that will take excellence and creativity to a new level,” she said.

Atul Harkisanka, LinkedIn head of Growth Markets and country manager for the Philippines, said the aviation sector was one of the worst hit during the pandemic, and as it recovers from the economic fallout, PAL and major airlines around the world are doubling down on their investment to strengthen their workforce agility.

“By committing to building a people-centric culture, PAL will be able to attract and retain talent who have a growth mindset and the necessary skills to help it navigate evolving business cycles,” he said.

“At the same time, as technology advances, we want to help PAL leverage our A.I.-powered talent attraction, engagement and retention tools and resources, as well as real-time insights of the industry and economy to achieve its business goals,” he added.

Besides skills-building, PAL has access to comprehensive talent insights and data to help make more informed hiring decisions and develop employer branding to attract strong candidates to save time and generate better leads with smart filters and recommendations for the airline’s crucial hiring decisions.

In addition to LinkedIn Recruiter, PAL has tapped LinkedIn Talent Insights to provide real-time talent data to manage the airline’s workforce, including employer branding metrics, data on talent, skills, and jobs, as well as actionable insights, personalized recommendations, and learning resources.

The partnership also includes advisories on global best practices, support for implementation and enablement, and continuous customer success.
