AirAsia Philippines is crafting operational plans recognizing the presence of Gen Z and Millennial passengers on flights they normally take with another person in tow.
The budget airline said this was based on a recent global travel survey where nine in 10 passengers aged 18 to 43 prefer to travel with loved ones to create more memorable experiences.
This, the airline said, is supported by AirAsia Philippines’ own figures in January this year when it flew over 600,000 guests. Of this number, Gen Zs accounted for 34 percent of the passengers while Millennials made up 58 percent.
Also according to AirAsia, forward bookings from February to May for island destinations Boracay, Cebu, Bohol, and Puerto Princesa and international destinations Taipei, Incheon, Osaka, and Narita continue to rise, having attracted 700,000 seats as of 1 February.
Of the demographics who booked the eight destinations, 14 percent were Gen Zs and 13 percent were Millennials.
“We are extremely excited to welcome the energy that young travelers—Gen Zs and millennials alike—will bring as the travel profile diversifies. As shown in our data, beaches remain the go-to destination for those who like to have a quick romantic getaway or relaxation with family,” AirAsia head of Communications and Public Affairs and first officer Steve Dailisan said.
“International destinations, meanwhile, remain the top bucket list destinations that await and excite travelers. We also invite everyone to watch out for our new summer campaign teased as “LFG” as this will surely excite this generation’s young travelers—and those young at heart also,” he added.
To encourage more travelers to fly with loved ones, AirAsia Philippines is offering an early Heart’s Month treat with P22 one-way base fare to all domestic and international destinations until 4 February for travel until 31 July 2024.
AirAsia Philippines flies to a total 13 domestic destinations and 13 international destinations as of July 2023.
