ACEN powers Cebu Pacific facilities with renewable energy

ACEN Corp., through its retail electricity supply arm ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions, has helped Cebu Pacific transition two key facilities to renewable energy, a significant step in the decarbonization efforts of the Gokongwei Group’s budget airline.

The APlus and AirJuan buildings, located in Pasay City, are now fully powered by renewable energy sourced from ACEN RES. These facilities are integral to Cebu Pacific’s daily operations, housing its maintenance and catering services. By transitioning these buildings to clean energy, Cebu Pacific reinforces its broader sustainability strategy, which includes adopting a modern, fuel-efficient all-NEO fleet, optimizing flight routes, and electrifying ground support equipment.

Sheila Mina, vice president and head of account management at ACEN, the green energy arm of the Ayala Group, highlighted the importance of the collaboration. “We are excited to partner with Cebu Pacific in supporting their sustainability goals. By providing renewable energy solutions, we are not only helping reduce their carbon footprint but also enabling more efficient operations,” she said.

Felix Lopez, Cebu Pacific chief human resources officer, explained that the shift to renewable energy is a critical part of reducing the airline’s emissions, particularly those related to electricity consumption at its facilities. He also highlighted the financial and environmental benefits of participating in the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Option Program, which offers cost savings and contributes to the country’s push for greater renewable energy adoption.

This partnership exemplifies the growing momentum of sustainable practices within the Philippine business sector, particularly in industries with large energy footprints like aviation.
