Grab PH protects drivers with subsidy and fraud prevention for discounted fares

Grab Philippines on Thursday reaffirmed its commitment to supporting driver-partners who provide discounted rides for senior citizens (SC), persons with disabilities (PWD), students, and national athletes. The company is mitigating the impact of government-mandated fare discounts by offering a reduced commission rate on these rides, ensuring that drivers’ earnings remain stable.

Last year, Grab also introduced a tech feature that allows drivers to anonymously report suspected fraud when passengers provide unverifiable IDs. The platform fully subsidizes the cost of any fraudulent or unverified discount claims, safeguarding drivers from financial loss while allowing riders to continue enjoying their benefits. According to Grab, one in three SC/PWD/Student bookings is flagged by drivers as potentially fraudulent or unverifiable.

To further combat abuse, Grab employs a stringent verification system, requiring valid IDs and facial authentication for discount eligibility. Drivers are instructed to verify IDs in person and report any suspicious bookings. Grab reassures drivers to complete all trips, promising to shoulder any financial burden from ID verification issues.
