Megawide Construction Corp. has officially received the Notice of Award from the Province of Cavite for its bid to build the long-awaited Cavite Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. This significant milestone, announced by the publicly listed construction and infrastructure developer, is poised to revolutionize the region’s public transport and ease the daily commute for thousands of Caviteños and Metro Manila residents.
In December 2024, Megawide, in partnership with Maplecrest Group Inc., was selected as the private sector proponent for the P1.87 billion transport project. The BRT system will span approximately 42 kilometers, connecting the cities of Imus, General Trias, Tanza, Kawit, Trece Martires, and other key areas, with a vital link to Metro Manila via the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITx).
“Upon receiving the Notice of Award, Megawide and its partner will now fulfill the necessary conditions and submit the required documentation,” the company announced to the Philippine Stock Exchange.
The Cavite BRT promises not only to develop a dedicated bus rapid transit route but also to offer point-to-point services, making it an integral part of the region’s transportation infrastructure. The project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, improve commute times, and enhance overall connectivity between Cavite and Metro Manila.
This award marks a new chapter for Megawide in the transportation sector, further cementing its role in transforming the country’s transport landscape. The company’s involvement in PITx, the Philippines’ first integrated landport terminal, and its track record in large-scale infrastructure projects showcase its growing influence in modernizing transportation systems across the nation.
For commuters in Cavite, this BRT system could be the solution to years of traffic woes, offering a faster, more reliable mode of travel while alleviating some of the pressure on Metro Manila’s busy streets. As the project progresses, it’s clear that Megawide’s vision for a better-connected Philippines is gaining momentum, setting the stage for a smoother future commute.
