Las Piñas WRF promises clean water, better wastewater services for Metro Manila

Maynilad Water Services Inc. has announced that its P4.84-billion Las Piñas Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) is now 33 percent complete, on track for full operation by July 2026. This state-of-the-art facility promises to significantly enhance wastewater management services in Las Piñas City, benefiting approximately 360,000 residents across 20 barangays.

Once operational, the Las Piñas WRF will treat up to 88 million liters of wastewater daily, improving local sanitation while playing a key role in the rehabilitation of Manila Bay. The treated wastewater will be safely discharged into the Zapote River, which flows into the bay, helping reduce pollution and enhance water quality in the region.

“The Las Piñas WRF is a vital part of our commitment to improving the environment and public health. It will not only provide reliable wastewater treatment for local residents but also help address the pressing issue of pollution in Manila Bay,” said Ramoncito Fernandez, Maynilad president and CEO.

The facility will utilize advanced anaerobic-anoxic-oxic (AAO) technology to effectively remove pollutants, ensuring that it meets the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ water quality guidelines and general effluent standards. The project is also part of a broader initiative to enhance Metro Manila’s wastewater infrastructure, supported by funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Development Bank of the Philippines.

With this project, Maynilad sustains efforts to modernize its services, having invested over P46.4 billion since 2007 in expanding and upgrading wastewater treatment plants across its service areas. As the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines, Maynilad serves millions of customers across Metro Manila and surrounding provinces.

By July 2026, the Las Piñas WRF will be a cornerstone in Maynilad’s mission to provide clean water, more efficient wastewater services, and a healthier environment for the communities it serves.
