MediaTek has officially introduced the Dimensity 9400+, the latest system-on-chip (SoC) in its flagship Dimensity lineup, aiming to redefine on-device AI, gaming, and connectivity performance for premium Android smartphones. The launch marks a significant move by MediaTek to capture greater commercial share in the high-end mobile chipset market, challenging rivals such as Qualcomm and Samsung.
Designed with a focus on Generative and agentic AI performance, the Dimensity 9400+ features an All Big Core architecture, including one Arm Cortex-X925 CPU core clocked at 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores—offering notable gains in both single- and multi-threaded performance.
“This release empowers developers and OEMs to unlock new frontiers of personalized AI and efficient computing,” said JC Hsu, corporate senior VP at MediaTek, highlighting the company’s strategic focus on fostering an AI application ecosystem across global markets.
A cornerstone of the 9400+ is its NPU 890, optimized to handle large language models (LLMs) and advanced AI techniques such as Mixture-of-Experts (MoE), Multi-Token Prediction (MTP), and FP8 inferencing. The integrated Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE) further enables traditional AI apps to evolve into complex, decision-making systems—key for next-gen user experiences and digital assistants.
Commercially, the 9400+ positions MediaTek as a central player in enabling on-device AI for smartphones, appealing to OEMs looking for lower power consumption and higher AI inference performance without relying on cloud processing.
In addition, the 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU brings console-grade graphics and features like opacity micromap (OMM) rendering to mobile gaming, while MediaTek’s MFRC 2.0+ boosts frame rates and power efficiency in collaboration with game studios.
The first smartphones equipped with the Dimensity 9400+ are set to hit the market later this month, as MediaTek intensifies its efforts to win flagship design wins globally. This release signals the company’s deepening investment in AI-centric hardware differentiation, a key battleground for future mobile innovation.
