Smart claims Q1 dominance in wireless broadband with 430K subscribers

Smart Communications, Inc. on Monday claimed as the country’s top wireless broadband provider having captured 44 percent of the market and having served over 430,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2025. This, the company said, puts Smart ahead of its closest competitor which holds 42 percent market share for the same period.

“This achievement reflects the trust our customers place in us and our commitment to delivering world-class connectivity,” said Anastacio R. Martirez, chief operating officer of Smart.

The surge in subscribers follows the strategic launch of Smart Home WiFi, a brand focused on serving families in fiber-limited areas. Key to the rollout is the Smart 5G Max Turbo WiFi, a prepaid plug-and-play device that can connect up to 15 devices and deliver high-speed access in underserved locations.

Backed by the PLDT Group’s ongoing investment in 5G infrastructure, Smart’s continued network expansion supports its broader mission to provide seamless digital access across the country.

“Our growing base is just the beginning,” Martirez said. “We’re committed to bringing more innovative solutions that match our customers’ evolving digital lifestyles.”
