Listed firm Basic Energy Corp. on Tuesday bared planning the deployment of 6,500 electric buses (e-bus) over a five-year span under its Green Energy E-Transport Program or GEEP and has asked government to support the program.
In a regulatory filing, Basic Energy plans the initial deployment of 80 such e-buses complete with individual franchises in all 82 provinces across the country.
Basic Energy wants the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to consider supporting the GEEP.
The listed company also seeks the support of the National Electrification Administration for help in the installation of 5-megawatts worth of solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) meant to cover the electricity needs of e-buses deployed in each province along the route.
Basic Energy also plans tapping fuel retail stations for the installation of service centers and charging stations powered by BESS and solar energy and has thus far identified Eco Oil in Cainta, Rizal and Phoenix Petroleum in Vito Cruz, Manila as partners in the endeavor.
The company said Ecology Builders and Development Corp. (EBDC), an allied company, will assemble the e-buses that will be sold to transport cooperatives and operators with two models to choose from.
EBDC will also assemble multi-purpose electric vehicles (EVs) to cater to various services as the delivery of goods, emergency response and the entrepreneurial requirements of business people.
Earlier this year, Basic Energy secured a wind energy service contract from the Department of Energy. Its wind energy contracts include sites in San Joaquin and Miag-ao, Iloilo and Hamtic Antique that produces up to 175 megawatts.
Another wind-driven facility in Mabini, Batangas produces 50 megawatts worth of energy.
Basic Energy is also involved in oil exploration, geothermal resource developments and solar.
