DITO eyes 300,000 home broadband subscribers by 2025

DITO Telecommunity Corp. is set to double its home broadband subscriber base by 2025, driven by the launch of its new affordable unlimited prepaid broadband service featuring “true 5G” technology.

Evelyn Jimenez, DITO chief revenue officer for consumer business, announced the ambitious target during a recent press briefing. “Our goal for this year is to reach 150,000 subscribers, and we aim to double that number by next year,” she said.

DITO boasts over 100,000 home broadband subscribers.

The company is particularly optimistic about its latest product, the DITO Home WOWFi, which Jimenez described as a game-changer in the market. “We have very high ambitions, especially with the launch of RedCap Wi-Fi,” she emphasized, highlighting the unique features of their offering.

DITO Home WOWFi is touted as the world’s first residential 5G RedCap Wi-Fi, designed to enhance internet access for Filipino households. “With DITO Home WOWFi, we want to jolt Filipinos out of their old ways of dealing with their internet at home; our goal is to provide a life-changing home Wi-Fi experience,” Jimenez added.

5G RedCap, a new standard in 5G technology, allows for high capacity, low latency, and maximum quality without the need for extensive bandwidth. This technology operates exclusively on 5G Standalone (SA) networks, often referred to as “true 5G.” According to Huawei Technologies, 5G RedCap offers the essential benefits of 5G while being lightweight enough for various applications.

While globally 5G RedCap has been primarily utilized for industrial applications, DITO is pioneering its use in residential settings in the Philippines. This initiative enables Filipino households to fully leverage the capabilities of 5G technology.

As the only telecom operator in the country currently utilizing a true 5G SA network, DITO is positioned to lead in this emerging market. The DITO Home WOWFi not only represents a significant advancement for internet service but also supports the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart home applications, driving the future of the digital economy in the Philippines.
