Filipino businesses are advised to use social networking apps such as TikTok to expand and maintain connections especially with international buyers and increase sales opportunities.
“We can utilize these tools to stay on top of rapid digital developments and fast moving trends and expand and maintain our relationship with our target market,” Rowena Mendoza, officer-in-charge, department manager at Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), said in a webinar.
Mendoza said as the world of ecommerce continuously evolves, businesses need to ride the wave of the trends of consumers and develop innovative marketing strategies to make their brands standout.
Strategic partnership specialist Jonathan Seah said there are over 1 billion monthly active users in TikTok, with users spending more and more time on the app to be entertained.
“Our platform inspires (the) audience to engage and create. TikTok users are 2x more likely to engage in video content.”

Seah said TikTok continues to influence buying habits with its truly entertaining content that “sparks joy, turning happy shoppers into happy buyers.”
To start a business account on TikTok, businesses can scan for free a QR (quick response) code, he said.
“What is the benefit of the TikTok business account? Well, you get access to audience insights, engagement data and creative tools. All of these are contained within the app itself and it is free,” he added.
Seah said they can also either own the creative process themselves or collaborate with creators.
“Brands are able to capitalize with the creators’ creative expertise and influence and at the same time TikTok also provides tools and capabilities to allow brands to tell stories that capture the hearts of the consumers,” he said.
