Listed firm Megawide Construction Corp. has secured so-called supply-and-build contracts beneiting affordable residential developer Phirst Park Homes Inc. which is pursuing projects in areas around Luzon.
Phirst Park Homes is a unit of Century Properties Group Inc.
The contracts relate to the supply of precast materials for Phirst Park subdivision projects in Naic, Cavite; Baliuag, Bulacan; and Tayabas, Quezon.
Megawide now has 11 projects with Phirst Park requiring the construction of some 19,000 units in sites across Luzon. As of end-December 2022, it has turned over more than 9,000 since the partnership began in 2018.
“The challenge in addressing the country’s housing backlog is not in the supply but the speed in which we can build. Our proprietary precast technology allows us to deliver cost-effective units with greater speed and efficiency than conventional methods,” Markus Hennig, Megawide executive vice president for pre-cast, said.
For greater efficiency and faster turnover, Megawide commits building onsite plants for precast molding and concrete batching.
Megawide owns proprietary engineering technologies like precasts that allow for quicker turnaround times, require less manual labor and lower long-term project costs. Production through a controlled manufacturing environment also helps reduce noise and dust pollution in construction sites.
The company’s main precast plant, located in Taytay, Rizal, is the largest and most advanced precast plant in the Philippines and one of the largest in Southeast Asia. The plant can produce up to 168,000 cubic meters of precast units each year.
