Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) subsidiary, Spectrum, has turned over two solar rooftop projects that began operations early last year.
The projects include one at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite that delivers combined capacity of 99.9-kilowatt-peak (kWp).
This facility was completed in January 2022 and has since generated more than 125,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean energy, allowing the company to save around 10,000 kwh a month equivalent to energy cost savings amounting to P785,000 last year.
In addition, the Orchard’s carbon footprint was reduced by some 89 tons equivalent to planting 4,100 trees or reducing approximately 355,000 kilometers in vehicle travel per year.
Spectrum’s project with licensed distributor and animal health products manufacturer Biostar NutriProducts, Inc., pertains to a 24.96-kWp rooftop facility in San Pablo City, Laguna.
The facility was energized in April 2022 and has since generated 21,520 kWh of clean energy translating to savings of close to P167,000 last year.
It also achieved a 15.33 ton reduction in its carbon footprint equivalent to planting more than 700 trees or lower vehicle travel per year by 61,054 km.
“Since 2016, Spectrum has been committed to providing end-to-end solar services to our customers. Our partnerships with the Orchard and Biostar are testaments to how we help our partners achieve their sustainability goals while also reducing operating expenses such as energy costs. With Spectrum’s topnotch service standards, our partners are also assured of good quality and reliable service for their solar rooftop projects,” said Ferdinand Geluz, Spectrum president and chief executive officer.
Spectrum is keen on developing up to 20 megawatts worth of additional projects this year.
Companies that Spectrum partnered with include Philip Morris, Toyota, Ajinomoto, Vista Malls, Robinsons, Pilipinas Shell, S&R, Puregold and PLDT, among others.
