Balai ni Fruitas Inc., a listed subsidiary of food group Fruitas Holdings Inc., said Tuesday it has engaged supermarkets and convenience stores to distribute Balai Pandesal baked goods in Cebu.
It said the distribution deal “is in line with the company’s strategic objective to make its products more accessible to Filipinos across the nation.”
An estimate by data and analytics company GlobalData valued the Philippines bakery and cereals market at $2.04 billion in 2021, with hypermarkets and supermarkets as main distribution channels.
GlobalData projects the market will grow at a compounded average growth rate of more than 3 percent a year through 2026. Cebu is the second largest market for bakery goods and cereals after Metro Manila, data showed.
The listed bakery said supermarkets in Cebu that initially carry Balai Pandesal baked goods include Gaisano Country Mall, Gaisano Main Colon, and Gaisano Market Square. These baked goods are also available in two branches of 24 Summit Pharmacy in Cebu.
Balai ni Fruitas said that additional Metro Gaisano supermarkets, including branches in Ayala Center Cebu, Super Metro Colon, Metro Colon, Super Metro Lapu, and Super Metro Mambaling, are expected to carry the baked products soon.
The company is further exploring opportunities to widen the distribution and improve the availability of Balai Pandesal products nationwide.
