Manila business, science schools link up with ASU

The Yuchengco-led holding firm iPeople Inc. (IPO) looks to fortify its excellence in the business and health sciences and has partnered with the Arizona State University (ASU) for this purpose.

IPO owns and operates the so-called Mapua Schools that include not only the main campus in Intramuros and the extension unit in Makati but also the Malayan Colleges Laguna, Malayan Colleges Mindanao and the Malayan High School of Science Inc. patterned after the government-funded science high schools across the country.

Its collaboration with ASU also makes IPO a member of the ASU-Cintana Alliance which is a network of 15 of the most innovative higher education institutions in the United States, Europe and Asia.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with the Mapúa schools, whom we selected as our Philippine champions, because of their long-standing reputation for innovation and academic excellence. The recent ranking of Mapúa as one of the top 4 Philippine universities, together with UP, Ateneo and LaSalle, in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, is clear evidence of the quality of a Mapúan education,” Chris Hill, chief strategy officer and Head of Asia Pacific at Cintana, said.

IPO in mid-2019 was also the surviving entity when it merged with the Ayala-led AC Education Inc. which operates the National Teachers College, the University of Nueva Caceres and the Affordable Private Education Center Inc. more known as APEC Schools.
