DHL fleet aircraft upgrade now permits same-day Philippine deliveries

Lead global air express service provider DHL Express has upgraded its fleet aircraft as part of its continued investment in Philippine operations.

The upgraded aircraft are Airbus A300 or A330-300 operated by Air Hong Kong that will boost its capacity by 31 percent from 42 tons to 55 tons on 12 weekly flights serving the Hong Kong-Manila-Cebu-Manila-Hong Kong route.

“We continue to invest in our business in the Philippines and we are proud to bring these improvements to the country,” said Nigel Lockett, country manager at DHL Express Philippines.

“Our new and larger aircraft is a firm commitment to serving our customers, and ensure that we are prepared to support their growth at a global scale and respond to the needs and demands of the market,” he added.

The aircraft is part of a 15-year agreement the DHL has entered into with AHK Air Hong Kong Limited and Cathay Pacific to enable overnight air delivery and support express services for the Asia Pacific region till 2033.

“We consistently upgrade and enhance our air and ground infrastructure to ensure our customers can get faster international deliveries,” said Promod George, Senior Director for Operations at DHL Express Philippines.

“Our larger aircraft and earlier schedule will significantly improve our ability to support our customers with increased capacity and better transit time .”

The new aircraft is operating at an earlier schedule. Inbound flights to Manila now arrive earlier by fifteen hours. Arrivals in Cebu have also been brought forward nine hours, leading to shipments arriving in the morning instead of the evening. This enables same-day delivery of shipments instead of next-day.

“This greatly benefits international shippers in the Philippines and will support our fast-growing market,” Eric Queppet, head of commercial at DHL Express Philippines said.

“Whether you are a global enterprise or a local business aiming to grow abroad or even individual Filipinos, we offer a unique and reliable advantage through our service excellence, operational enhancements, and a global network with a presence in more than 220 countries and territories,” he added.

Recently, DHL Express has also added 18 new electric vehicles to its ground fleet in the country, further reducing its environmental impact.
