ACEN Corp., the listed energy arm of Ayala Group, said it acquired a portfolio of eight operating wind projects in Texas, U.S.A. through its joint-venture company, UPC Power Solutions LLC.
The latest acquisition is part of ACEN’s plan to expand beyond Asia Pacific and enter the fast-growing U.S. renewables market. Financial details of the deal, however, were not disclosed.
The joint venture company is acquiring wind assets with total capacity of 136 megawatts from US-based GlidePath Power Solutions LLC. It will generate approximately 360 giga Watthours of wind energy per year, enough to power around 24,000 households and avoid around 127,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
The sale is still subject to regulatory approvals including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, an independent agency that regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil.
