Malaysia’s Petronas and local fuel player Phoenix Petroleum have become partners to a marketing agreement in the Philippines.
Phoenix Petroleum on Wednesday said in a statement the partnership includes downstream marketing and associated technology solutions.
Phoenix Petroleum has access to Petronas’ branded retail and marketing offerings, including its fuel and fluid technologies and Petronas benefits by expanding its footprint in the Philippines.
The parties are to conduct a joint feasibility study to take the collaboration to the next phase of execution.
Ahmad Adly Alias, vice president of refining, marketing and trading at Petronas, looks forward to bring Petronas’ patented fuel technology and other sustainable solutions to the Philippines.
“With the technology and expertise of Petronas as the largest fuel retail network operator in Malaysia, combined with the deep knowledge and experience of Phoenix in terms of the local market, this synergy promises to be a new experience for our customers.”
Henry Albert Fadullon, Phoenix Petroleum president
This partnership represents the parties’ second collaboration since 2017 when Phoenix Petroleum acquired the entire liquefied petroleum gas business of Petronas in the Philippines, now owned by the company’s subsidiary, Phoenix LPG Philippines, Inc.
Petronas has operations in over 100 countries including the largest retail footprint in Malaysia with more than 1,000 stations while Phoenix Petroleum has close to 700 retail stations across the Philippines with business units Singapore and Vietnam.
