Some 1.2M seen taking the road during the long Lenten holidays

The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) on Wednesday committed to secure the welfare of more than 1.2 million passengers as they travel to their destinations shortly before and after the long Lenten weekend.

“We are prepared to ensure the commuting public’s welfare through the Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2023,” said Jason Salvador, corporate Aafairs and government relations head of PITX. More than a million passengers are seen taking to the road early to avoid the annual Holy Week exodus.

The operation plan is an initiative done in tandem with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the InterAgency Council for Traffic (I-ACT), the Land Transportation Office, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Red Cross –Paranaque Chapter.

“We have always been steadfast in providing immediate response to any issue that may arise together with the enforcement agencies of the government,” said Salvador.

DOTr Malasakit Help Desk (MHD) will be set up starting April 1 at the main entrance of the terminal with personnel from the DOTr, I-ACT, LTO, LTFRB, and MMDA.

Red Cross Paranaque is deploying emergency medical technicians for those needing basic life support. PNP is also doing 24-hour mobile patrols, with additional K-9 units to further heighten security measures around the terminal.

“We are also working closely with bus companies and transport operators to ensure connectivity and the sufficiency of trips and transport options for all passengers,” Salvador added.
