LTFRB frees up thousands in new TNVS slots

The country’s largest transport network vehicle service (TNVS) group, TNVS Alliance of the Philippines (TAP), on Thursday said the government decision making available more than 10,000 new slots would help produce much-needed livelihood opportunities in Metro Manila and nearby areas.

According to the TAP, the new slots present new livelihood opportunities for fellow Filipinos who are looking for new income streams in the post-pandemic era.

“We look forward to welcoming these new TNVS drivers to our community as we provide safe and convenient transport service that every Filipino deserves,” the group said.

“We are seeing more and more passengers on the road needing a ride,” it said, adding that commuters are “relieved and sincerely grateful to the LTFRB for the new slots as these will help reduce the challenges of traveling in Metro Manila.”

In Board Resolution No. 022, Series of 2023, the LTFRB opened 10,300 new TNVS slots in Metro Manila and the MUCEP area that include cities in Metro Manila and in Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal.

In that document, the LTFRB board acknowledged that it “sees the need to open additional slots to maintain a sufficient number of TNVS to supply the existing demand.”
