    DOTr targets June completion of 38 airport, port projects

    The government said key infrastructure projects will be completed in time for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s first state of the nation address in July, Bautista said during a press briefing in Malacañang.

        •The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is targeting to complete maintenance works for 18 airports and conclude around 20 port projects by June, according to Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista

    Projects for the road sector, which include bike lanes, are also being completed, said Bautista.

    During a sectoral meeting, the DOTr also reported the finalization of different contract packages for the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR), as well as for the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP).

    The 147-kilometer NSCR Project will have a total of 35 stations and 51 commuter train sets and seven express train sets serving the rail line.

    The project aims to provide ease of mobility and connectivity within the National Capital Region, CALABARZON and Central Luzon, and is expected to generate direct and indirect employment to a total of 110,000 people during its construction phase.

    DOTr signed last January Contract Package 4, which covers the electro-mechanical systems and track works for the first segment of NSCR, while Contract Package NS-01, which includes the electromechanical system for the Malolos-Clark and Blumentritt-Calamba sections, was signed last March.
