Upson network expansion drives earnings higher in 2022

Upson International Corp. said Monday net income last year rose 33 percent year-on-year to P537.9 million, driven by gains from the network expansion of the country’s largest retailer of personal computers and information technology products

The listed retailer, which added 24 new stores last year to the 183 branches it had in 2021, increased revenues by 10 percent to P9.46 billion. The 207 branches are spread nationwide and a total of six warehouses, located in Manila, Cebu, Cagayan De Oro, and Davao City.

“Our financial performance is a testament to our commitment to be the shopping gateway to technology. This commitment shall be our legacy contribution to support the digital transformation of our country. This is why we are continuously expanding our retail footprint nationwide, along with warehouses and logistics operations, to reach underserved markets,” said Arlene Sy, Upson president and chief executive officer in a statement.

Upson is a retail company that operates several retail outlets such as Octagon Computer Superstore, Micro Valley, Gadget King, as well as concept and specialty stores like Acer, HP, Brother, Silvertec and Octagon Mobile in select locations.
