SM Prime Holdings Inc. said it will open on Friday SM City Bataan, its first mall in the province but the 83rd retail complex from one of the leading integrated property developers in Southeast Asia.
The two-level shopping mall will add 46,000 square meters of SM Prime’s gross floor space aggregating 9 million square meters at the end of 2022. It also owns seven shopping centers in China, with total gross floor area of 1.4 million square metersThe company is expected to open two more shopping malls this year and complete the expansion of five existing facilities to add 200,000 square meters to gross floor area.
“Bataan has been a popular destination among local and foreign tourists for its wonderful mix of historical, natural, and educational sites. We are very excited to open our new mall, SM City Bataan, in the province as we aim to add color to its rich culture and further spur economic activities that are set to provide significant growth opportunities, convenience, and entertainment to everyone,” SM Prime President Jeffrey Lim said.
SM City Bataan, the 59th provincial mall of SM Prime, will open with more than 90 percent of space lease-awarded and located at the provincial capital of Balanga City which serves as the center of governance, trade, and tourism of the province.
“We expect further growth opportunities for the province and its people with more infrastructure projects waiting to be completed in Bataan. We hope that, through SM City Bataan, we will be able to provide everyone more reasons to enjoy and stay in this beautiful province,” Lim added.
SM Prime has a land bank totaling 328 hectares that could be developed over the next seven years.
