Members of the board and officials of First Gen Corporation watch a video presentation in giant screens at their side and back, chronicling the life of the late visionary Oscar M. Lopez, the company’s former chairman emeritus. First Gen ran the video during the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting on Wednesday, 17 May 2023, as a way of paying tribute to the former chairman emeritus (extreme left on the video screen), who died recently at the age of 93. Endearingly called OML by colleagues, the late chairman emeritus provided the vision and leadership that have turned First Gen into the country’s leading clean energy provider.
With a combined capacity of 3,501.4 megawatts, First Gen power plants run on renewable energy sources like geothermal, wind, hydro and solar; and on natural gas, considered the cleanest form of fossil fuel. During the same meeting on May 17, First Gen stockholders re-elected the company’s 10-man board, led by Federico R. Lopez (fifth from left), the son of OML’s and the company’s current chairman and CEO. Also in photo are (from left) Atty. Rachel Hernandez, corporate secretary; Manuel L. Lopez Jr., director; Alicia Rita L. Morales, independent director; Francis Giles B. Puno, director, president and COO; Richard B. Tantoco, director and executive vice president; Edgar O. Chua, independent director; Manolo Michael De Guzman, director; and Cielito F. Habito, independent director. Also re-elected as directors are Elvira L. Bautista and Rafael L. Lopez (not in photo).
