Telco expands Mindanao footprint

Eastern Communications has expanded its footprint in Zamboanga, one of the economic hubs in Mindanao.

The expansion is in line with Eastern’s goal of democratizing technology across the nation, both in emerging digital cities and hard-to-reach areas, in order to strengthen businesses of all kinds.

“2023 is Zamboanga’s year and we want Filipinos in the area to know that our services are now within their reach. Through this expansion, we look forward to empowering more businesses, families, and individuals through reliable connectivity and ICT services,’ said Eastern Communications co-coordinator and lawyer Aileen Regio.

“ We are confident we can provide them with an avenue to help them connect with each other and the rest of the world and enable them to grow their businesses,” he added.

Eastern Communications has been ramping up its nationwide expansion and the landing of its joint infrastructure project, the Philippine Domestic Cable Network (PDSCN). Zamboanga City has served as entryway for the telco to further expand its full suite of telco and ICT services in the province.

Eastern is a telecommunications and ICT solutions company providing an extensive portfolio of services that include data, internet, voice, managed services, data centers, cloud, and cyber defense services. The company hopes to serve the majority of businesses in Zamboanga such as manufacturing, trade, construction, and many more.

In line with its goal of nationwide digitization, the $150-million PDSCN project looks to boost mobile and broadband connectivity by making fiber internet accessible in Zamboanga and other underserved areas in the Philippines.

As of this date, the PDSCN project has successfully reached 33 sites that include Iloilo, Bacolod, Boracay, Cebu, Siargao, Camiguin, and Zamboanga Peninsula, among others.

Additionally, businesses from Zamboanga can now take advantage of Eastern Communications’ high-speed internet services, Internet Direct Service (IDS) and Fiber 1.

Through IDS, subscribers enjoy a premium Internet service that uses leased line technology to deliver a dedicated, high-speed internet connectivity to those requiring flexible bandwidth options.

Fiber1 runs purely on Eastern’s redundant fiber optic links via gigabit passive optical network (GPON), ideal for basic business operations of small and medium enterprises in Zamboanga.

“We are thrilled that Eastern Communications has reached Zamboanga City. With its rapid economic progress, we believe the digitalization of the city will further accelerate the growth of its local businesses,” Eastern Communications co-coordinator Vince Tempongko said.
