United Airlines sets direct Manila flights beginning October

United Airlines (UAL) on Wednesday announced starting daily nonstop flights from Manila (MNL) to San Francisco (SFO) beginning 30 October this year.

The new service, which requires government approval, will be its first trans-Pacific service to the Philippines since the airline started its Manila operations in 1982.

The first westbound flight from SFO to Manila will depart on 29 October 2023.

“We are excited to launch the new nonstop service from Manila to San Francisco to meet strong requests from our customers on both sides of the Pacific,” Wally Dias, United’s regional director of sales for Greater China, Korea and Southeast Asia, said,

“With this new nonstop service, we will be able to offer our Manila customers not only the convenient daily nonstop service to San Francisco, but also more than 70 one-stop destinations in the mainland U.S., Canada and Latin America via our hub in San Francisco,” he added.

Dias said the launch of its trans-Pacific service shows the airline’s strong commitment to the Philippine market.

San Francisco is United’s largest hub airport on the U.S. West Coast and a gateway to Asia-Pacific. United operates more than 200 daily departures from San Francisco International Airport, taking customers to more than 100 destinations around the globe, including the most international service with flights to 31 different international cities.

This winter, the hub will offer direct flights to 15 Asia-Pacific destinations including Manila (Philippines), Auckland and Christchurch (New Zealand), Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney (Australia), Haneda/Tokyo, Narita/Tokyo, and Osaka (Japan), Incheon/Seoul (South Korea), Papeete/Tahiti, Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei.
