Basic Energy Corp. said Friday it secured another wind farm project from the Department of Energy, just weeks after winning a Wind Energy Service Contract from the agency.
The DOE has advised, said Basic, that the company had been given the green light to pursue its Balayan Nearshore Wind Power Project, a development just one kilometer from the shores of Calatagan peninsula in Batangas.
Under the Balayan service contract, the company has an exclusive right to explore, develop and utilize the wind energy resources with the 2,835 hectares contracted area. The project will be able to generate and deliver power energy to the grid ranging from 140 megawatts to 168 MW.
Basic is expected to declare the project’s commerciality within the provided 5-year period under the pre-development stage of the service contract.
Along with the existing Mabini and Panay facility, the Balayan project increase Basic’s capacity to an estimated 350MW to 400 MW.
