Even with diminished base, DITO confident of acquiring 50,000 more subscribers this year

DITO Telecommunity Corp. projects acquiring 50,000 postpaid subscribers under its unlimited 5G home Wi-Fi program by end of the year.

Evelyn Jimenez, chief commercial officer at DITO, said the company already received 30,000 5G home Wi-Fi applicants in less than a month since the service was launched.

“The minimum number of subscribers we should get is around 50,000 by the end of the year,” Jimenez said.

DITO 5G Home Wi-Fi  delivers up to 500 Mbps 5G-fast internet speeds straight to your home without a data cap.

The service is available in Cavite, Davao, Laguna, National Capital Region and Cebu.

Jimenez also said DITO targets to end 2023 with nine to 10 million mobile phone subscribers.

DITO’s subscriber base was nearly halved to only 7.74 million from 14.96 million subscribers because of the SIM Registration Law.

“We’re not worried about the rest of the subscribers that did not register because our business is protected as almost 100 percent of our revenue generating subscribers are registered,” Jimenez said.

Because of the SRA, she quickly pointed out, the quality of their subscribers improved.

DITO chief technology officer Rodolfo Santiago, said the company is “very confident” to pass the fourth annual technical audit by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

Last year, DITO passed its third annual technical audit as it posted a national population cover of 72.39 percent on minimum average broadband speed (MABS) of 71.77 percent Mbps and 801.19 Mbps in all its 4G and 5G sites, respectively.

As part of the issuance of its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity, DITO committed to deliver national population cover of 70.01 percent and MABS of 55 Mbps on the third year of its commitment period.
