DA lifts poultry import ban from Japan, Central Europe

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has lifted the temporary ban on poultry products from Hungary, Japan and Czech Republic.

Senior agriculture undersecretary Domingo Panganiban announced the lifting on Wednesday in the wake of proof showing the containment of bird flu in those countries.

New memorandum orders now allow the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products, including poultry meat, day-old chicks, eggs and semen from Hungary, Japan and Czech Republic subject to existing import rules.

Data from the Bureau of Animal Industry show the absence poultry meat shipments from the cited jurisdictions thus far.
