RE developers have until next week to join OCSP-4

Renewable energy (RE) developers looking to participate in Round 4 of the government’s open and competitive selection process or OCSP-4 have until 29 August this year to submit their proposals.
This relates to a set of predetermined areas that RE developers have to win via competitive bids areas the government has considered ripe for renewable energy development.
All such bids have to be in by11 AM of the 29th of this month, the Department of

     Energy (DOE) said.

The areas considered ripe for RE development under OCSP-4 are in 20 locations that include 14 hydro prospects with total capacity of 87.96 megawatts (MW), three geothermal sites with capacity of 160 MW and three more wind projects whose rated capacity is incomplete at this point.
According to the DOE, the geothermal prospects include the Buguias-Tinoc in Ifugao province; Mabini in Batangas; and Mt. Sembrano traversing Pililla and Jala-jala in Rizal province and Pangil and Pakil in Laguna.
The hydro prospects under OCSP-4 include Tinoc, Ifugao province; Alilem, Ilocos Sur; San Remigio, Antique; Libacao, Aklan; Badian, Cebu; Dingalan, Aurora; Carrascal and Cantilan in Surigao del Sur; Digos City, Davao del Sur; Manabo, Abra; Naujan, Oriental Mindoro; Calamba, Misamis Occidental; and two in Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
The wind projects include San Jose City in Nueva Ecija, Pantabanganan in Nueva Ecija and Bagac in Bataan.
As of end-2022, the installed on-grid RE capacity include geothermal, hydro, biomass, solar and wind companies generating 8,264 MW or 29.24 percent of the 28,258 MW of installed on-grid capacity in the country, excluding battery storage and diesel-battery hybrid systems.
