Malacanang has ordered the suspension of the chief of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on alleged corruption and irregularities.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, said he does not tolerate any misconduct in his administration as has instructed the immediate investigation of the alleged corruption by LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III.
He strongly condemns dishonesty and duplicity in public service.
In a separate statement, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ordered the chief of the LTFRB to explain after allegations of corruption and other regularities propped up within the agency.
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said that an investigation was already launched regarding the allegations, adding that chairman Guadiz III was also issued a notice to explain alleged misconduct in the implementation of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
“We already launched an investigation on the allegations against the LTFRB. While we are already evaluating the alleged irregularities involving (chairman Guadiz), we also issued a notice for him to shed light on the allegations,” Bautista said.
Bautista maintained that the DOTr does not condone corruption within the agency and its line agencies to ensure honest governance among its ranks.
He said the transport agency will continue to clampdown on erring officials taking advantage of their posts.
“We do not tolerate any form of corruption in the DOTr and will not hesitate to impose the stiffest sanctions if the evidence so warrants,” Bautista said.
