The Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) has set up a $5 million grant program from which non-profit organizations across Asia and the Pacific may tap to underwrite climate-related studies.
AVPN is rated as the world’s largest network of social investors jointly supported by Google.org and the Manila-based Asian Development Bank.
The initiative, called the APAC Sustainability Seed Fund 2.0, is structured to scale up the most innovative non-profit sustainability initiatives and solutions that help vulnerable and underserved communities in the region.
According to the ADB, the fund provides grants to support the scaling up of non-profit innovations in increasing access to renewable energy or decarbonization efforts, adaptation to the effects of climate change, biodiversity protection, water preservation, circular economy, air quality and waste management.
The seed fund was launched just last week during a sustainability forum organized by Eco-Business, or companies that make a positive impact on the natural environment in tandem with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
AVPN will accept expressions of interest from NGOs until 15 December this year, the ADB said.
