Tech firm exec eyes building tech city in Pampanga

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. on Friday eyed building a “tech city” in Mexico, Pampanga to house the largest data center and corporate headquarters in the region.

Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy said the Tech City is a 200-hectare digital hub seen rising in Pampanga and the realization of his dream to see ‘an entire ecosystem of innovation’ in the country.

Uy targets the city to attract the largest IT companies in the world, and the best ICT talents in the country.

“The Tech City will host the largest data center in the region, corporate headquarters, housing facilities, and an events area. We hope the leading tech companies make the Tech City their home in the Philippines,” said Uy.

Uy also advised Pampanga businesses to profit from digitalization and further boost growth, especially as the company’s young and modern fiber network has long been established in Central Luzon.

He highlighted the benefits of digitalization and the availability of the infrastructure especially in their region.

“It is estimated that digital technologies have the potential to create an annual economic value of P5 trillion or $101.3 billion. But what’s important to note here is the fact that in order to achieve all these, we must have the correct infrastructure in place,” said Uy.

The company’s fiber network now operates a 670,000-kilometer fiber backbone. As at the end-June this year, the fiber broadband provider’s network infrastructure spans over 16.6 million Filipino homes, equal to 62.3 percent of households nationwide.

With the network, Converge has leveraged its fiber technology to serve the sectors of education, government, healthcare, financial services, and entertainment.

“The President has mandated that 95 percent of government services should be digital. There’s so much opportunity for e-services and the likes of the Bureau of Immigration can benefit from this. There could be an electronic court system also in the judiciary,” notes Uy.
