The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Wednesday said no sensitive information was compromised after its testing website had been “infiltrated.”
Renato Paraiso, DICT spokesperson confirmed that its sandbox site, where the agency tests potential vulnerabilities has been “infiltrated.”
“It’s isolated in this particular site. This is a sandbox environment wherein we test our VAPTs [vulnerability assessment and penetration testing]. We test our scanners as well,” Paraiso said.
“This site is also being used to study and gather data on other methods of hacking,” he added.
Paraiso ruled out sensitive information having been compromised.
According to him, the DICT constantly upgrades its website and systems as well as the other systems of government.
Among the government websites recently hacked include those of the House of Representatives, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. portal was hit by a Medusa ransom attack last month.
