Light Rail Manila Corp. on Friday bared optimism the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 Project will begin commercial operations by the last quarter of 2024 as scheduled.
“We are optimistic that in less than a year, we are to begin the commercial operations of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 Project,” Juan F. Alfonso, LRMC president and chief executive said.
The progress rate is a signal ushering the country into an era of modern railway experience where passengers take advantage of world-class amenities, user-friendly and PWD-friendly facilities, high standards of safety and security, and value-added services.
The company said civil and system works along the 6.7-kilometer rail line extension of five new stations in various stages of development registered a 94.1 percent progress rate as of the third quarter this year.
This includes the Redemptorist Station which is the next station after the Baclaran Station (southbound) now at 86.3 percent completion; MIA station which is closest station to the airport, at 86.9 percent; Asia World Station that connects to the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), at 72.9 percent.
The Ninoy Aquino Station is now 81.5 percent complete and the Dr. Santos Station, which is the last station under the first phase of the project, with a bus terminal, sports facility, and interconnection to SM City Sucat nearby, at 90.5 percent.
The remaining stations between Las Piñas and Niog are scheduled to become fully-operational by 2027.
The 11.7-kilometer, 8-station LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project will connect Baclaran in Parañaque City to Bacoor, Cavite.
