MPCALA Holdings Inc. on Friday eyed the completion of the new interchange at the Cavite segment of the Cavite Laguna Expressway (Calax) by end of 2024.
MPCALA said the construction of the remaining portion of the CALAX Cavite Segment is in full swing.
The next interchange will be a 7.9km 2×2 lane expressway extending from the Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange to Governor’s Drive in General Trias.
At the moment, more than 95 percent of the right-of-way of this segment has already been acquired, and that earthworks and bridge construction have begun.
“Governor’s Drive will be the second-longest segment of CALAX, spanning almost eight kilometers in length. We target to open it to the motoring public before the end of 2024. Through this interchange, we aspire to revolutionize motorist travel experience by connecting communities and helping improve the economy of the region,” Raul L. Ignacio, MPCALA president and general manager, said.
MPCALA said the recently opened Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange recorded 11,000 vehicle traffic daily, well beyond the projected 5,000.
This four-kilometer segment of CALAX that directly connects to Aguinaldo Highway seamlessly transports motorists towards tourist destinations in Tagaytay, Silang, Dasmarinas, and nearby cities and municipalities of Cavite.
Looking forward, CALAX is on schedule to compete total length of 45 kilometers by 2025 in eight strategically positioned interchanges: Technopark, Laguna Boulevard, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Silang East, Silang (Aguinaldo), Governor’s Drive, Open Canal, and Kawit Interchange. CALAX will seamlessly connect with the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) in Kawit, further unifying key regions. Presently, operational segments span from Mamplasan Rotunda up to the Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange.
