Prime Energy awards contract for equipment needed at Malampaya gas field

Prime Energy Resources Development B.V. has contracted One Subsea of the Schlumberger group for the supply of control equipment and subsea production systems to execute the fourth phase of drilling at the Malampaya gas platform by the end of the year.

The equipment will also be used to tie-in two new deepwater wells from the Camago and Malampaya East fields to the Malampaya shallow water platform.

Prime Energy said the drilling is planned for 2025 with the goal of delivering new gas by 2026.

The company also expects to award other major contracts for deepwater drilling, specialized pipeline manufacturing and integrated well services in the coming weeks.

Earlier this month, Prime Energy’s proposed drilling passed an independent external review that concluded its timeline estimate is sound.

Prime Energy also plans to drill a third well as part of the 2025 drilling campaign to determine the presence of oil and gas in a structure approximately 15 kilometers from Malampaya to further extend the flow of indigenous benefiting the country.
“Exploration and development of a late-life gas field like Malampaya requires extraordinary feats of engineering, which we are committed to deliver safely. We want to help ensure that Filipino consumers continue to enjoy stable and predictable electricity prices, a protection that we wish to continue offering for the long-term for the country,” said Donnabel Kuizon Cruz, Prime Energy managing director and general manager, in a statement.
