Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. subsidiary Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC), has signed a P3.3 billion deal with D.M. Consunji Incorporated (DMCI) for the construction of Segment 3B of the CAVITEX C5 Link project.
“This is a milestone for the CAVITEX C5 Link as this marks the construction of the last remaining segment,” Raul L. Ignacio, president and general manager, said.
“Soon, motorists will benefit from the entire 7.7-kilometer expressway stretching from CAVITEX R1 to C5 Road in Taguig,” he added.
Under the contract, DMCI is responsible for the construction of roadworks, drainage, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, sanitary systems, and toll plazas for the 2-kilometer, 3 by 3 lane segment which stretches from the Kaingin area to the RSG Subdivision.
According to the CIC, construction of the segment is targeted to commence by the second half this year and seen operational by 2025.
At present, the operational segments of the CAVITEX C5 Link include Segment 3A-1 (C5 Link Flyover from C5 Road to Merville) and Segment 3A-2 (C5 Link Flyover Extension).
Segment 3B and Segment 2 (R1 Interchange) are underway, with Segment 2 set to open to motorists by June this year.
The R-1 Interchange is a vital 1.9-kilometer segment (Segment 2) within the broader CAVITEX C5 Link project.
This 7.7-kilometer, 2 by 3 lane expressway is poised to serve 50,000 motorist, seamlessly connecting the CAVITEX R-1 to C5 Road in Taguig, greatly enhancing regional mobility.
Apart from the Cavitex C5 Link, the MPTC’s tollways portfolio includes the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) concession, the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
