Kingson Sian leaves Alliance Global, relinquishes post as president, director, COO

Kingson U. Sian, one of first executives recruited by billionaire Andrew Tan when he started building his property empire with Megaworld Corp. as centerpiece, has decided to leave the group, relinquishing his positions as director, president and chief operations officer of Alliance Global Group Inc., the listed company that holds the group’s various business interests.

Sian, 62, who was recruited by Tan in 1995, had earlier retired from the group’s Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc. Over his nearly three decades with the group, Sian has helped Tan list Alliance Global on the Philippine Stock Exchange in 1999 and added more businesses through acquisitions that included a substantial stake in Golden Arches Development Corp., the local franchise holder of McDonald’s and various global liquor brands via unit Emperador, among others.

Business interests of Alliance Global span property development, food, gaming, resorts and hotel operations, and infrastructure development.

Following Sian’s retirement, the directors of Alliance Global appointed Kevin Andrew L. Tan, first born of the billionaire and chairman of the company, as president. The 44-year-old new Alliance Global president already serves as the company’s chief executive officer and vice-chairman.

The younger Tan has been with the Alliance Global since 2012, holding director positions in various subsidiaries, including publicly-listed Megaworld Corporation, Emperador, Inc., Empire East Land Holdings, Inc., Global-Estate Resorts, Inc., and MREIT, Inc. With extensive experience in real estate and executive management, Mr. Tan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with a Professional Certificate in Management from the University of Asia and the Pacific.

Meanwhile, Alliance Global said its board postponed the annual meeting scheduled for later this month to July 18 to allow more time to at least fill the seat in the board of directors vacated by Sian.
