Manila Water vows prompt completion of pipe replacement project at EDSA Guadalupe

Manila Water Co. Inc. on Thursday committed to complete its steel pipe replacement program along the southbound EDSA lane by the fourth quarter this year to minimize its disruptive impact on the government’s Greenways Project at the Guadalupe light rail station.

The P47 million pipeline project started in July 2023 requires dumping the old 500-millimeter mainline for a new, 600-millimeter water main preparatory to the Department of Transportation’s EDSA Greenways Project.

The pipe replacement project will provide a better water infrastructure minimizing the risk of leakage and safeguards the construction of the pedestrian walkway in transit stations at Balintawak, Cubao, Guadalupe and Taft.

“Projects like the steel pipe replacement along EDSA Guadalupe are opportunities for us to improve water service for our customers while supporting government infrastructure projects such as the DOTr’s Greenways Project,” said Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water corporate communications affairs group director.

Manila Water gave assurance that traffic management is key to minimizing disruption in the area as most of the construction activities are done at night.

Manila Water mainly serves customers in Makati, Pasig, Pateros, Marikina, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Taguig, some parts of Quezon City and Manila; and several towns in Rizal province that include Taytay, Teresa, Angono, Antipolo, Baras, Binangonan, Cainta, San Mateo and Rodriguez.
