MPCALA Holdings Inc. said it is on track to complete the Cavite segment of the Cavite Laguna Expressway (Calax) by the third quarter of 2025.
“We are still working on the right of way, but it’s progressing. There are two remaining subsections — subsection 1 and subsection 2,” Raul L. Ignacio, president and general manager of MPCALA, said.
Ignacio said the government already delivered 100 percent right of way (ROW) for segment 3 (Governor’s Drive Interchange to Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange and 76 percent for segment 1 (Kawit Interchange) and 2 (Open Canal Interchange).
“We can complete the entire Calax by the third quarter,” he said of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. subsidiary which was awarded the contract in 2015.
Ignacio said the company projects opening the Governor’s Drive Interchange to Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange to the motoring public by August this year.
In November last year, MPCALA opened the Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange, a 3.9-kilometer, 2×2 lane subsection of the CALAX Cavite segment.
The Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange will play a significant role in decongesting the busiest highway in Cavite, offering a faster route to the emerging tourism destinations of Silang town and Tagaytay City.
It is expected to cater to an additional 5,000 daily motorists, providing them with convenient access to these vibrant areas.
The CALAX’s operational segment spans over 14.24 kilometers with interchanges at Greenfield-Mamplasan, Laguna Technopark, Laguna Boulevard, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay, up to Silang East Interchange.
When completed, the CALAX project will connect to the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) in Kawit, Cavite.
MPCALA Holdings Inc. is a subsidiary of MPTC, the toll road development arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
MPTC is the biggest toll road developer and operator in the Philippines. Aside from CALAX and CAVITEX, MPTC also holds the concession rights for North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector Road, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
