PERC unit switches on 360 kWp rooftop facility

Petro Energy Resources Corp. (PERC) subsidiary Petro Green Energy Corp. (PGEC) has switched on a 360-kilowatt peak (kWp) solar power facility at the Mapua Malayan Colleges Mindanao (MCM) in Davao City.

Dodjie Maestrecampo, Mapua MCM president and chief executive officer, said the activation of the rooftop facility not only helps in the school’s technological advancement and educational goals but promotes sustainable energy solutions and a more eco-friendly campus environment.

“Moreover, this project will not only help us achieve a more energy-efficient campus but will also provide invaluable hands-on learning opportunities for our students in energy science, engineering and environment-related courses,” Maestrecampo added.

In February, PGEC and Mapua MCM agreed to install solar equipment consisting of 600 units of solar panels at the school’s main buildings.

Mapua MCM issued the notice to proceed on 17 May. The installation took less than three months to complete.

PGEC’s other investments include the 32-megawatt Maibarara geothermal power project in Batangas; the 50-MW Nabas wind power project in Aklan, and the 70-MW Tarlac solar power project.

PERC also acquired three new offshore wind blocks from the Department of Energy this year, covering offshore northern Luzon, northern Mindoro and eastern Panay.

PGEC and Mapua MCM are both members of the Yuchengco Group of Companies.
