PNOC helps NEDA manage electricity consumption across Calabarzon

The National Economic Development Authority in Calabarzon (NEDA-Calabarzon) has asked the Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) for help in managing its electricity consumption across facilities in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Quezon.

Their collaboration requires PNOC to install rooftop photovoltaic systems on government buildings in Region IV-A.

Oliver Butalid, PNOC president and chief executive officer, and Agnes Tolentino, NEDA assistant secretary, formally signed the memorandum of agreement late in August this year.

“PNOC’s role is to support the energy transition agenda of the Department of Energy, particularly promoting energy efficiency among government entities. Rooftop solar PV systems in government owned buildings is one of the services PNOC will be providing aside from demand aggregation and smart air condition technology” Butalid said in a statement.

Earlier, the PNOC partnered with several private firms in pursuing more renewable energy projects in the country.

The PNOC recently partnered with Land Bank of the Philippines subsidiary LBP Resources and Development Corp. to facilitate the installation of rooftop solar PV systems and with Singapore-based Moorfields Capital Pte. Ltd. for the use of aquavoltaics producing energy from solar panels in areas where aquaculture businesses locate.

The state-owned company also recently partnered with Belgium-based Turbulent NV in harnessing the energy of rivers and canals with minimal environmental impact and with Windstream Energy Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. in a hybrid wind and solar energy system for off-grid communities.
