The Bureau of Customs on Sunday reported having sued the owners and crewmembers of MT Tritrust and MT Mega Ensoleillee caught illegally transferring unmarked fuel at the Navotas Fish Port.
According to BOC commissioner Bien Rubio, the crew of the vessels were caught in the act of smuggling unmarked fuel by the enforcement group of fuel marking agents.
BOC-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Services (BOC-CIIS) director Verne Enciso said an inventory of diesel fuel of the vessels showed MT Tritrust carried 320,463 liters while MT Mega Ensoleillee had 39,884 liters on board.
“As we earlier reported, the unmarked fuel found at MT Tritrust was valued at P245 million and the MT Mega Ensoleilee at P450 million,” he said.
Customs as well as Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) units under Task Force Aduana found the vessel captains and crew allegedly bunkering at the Navotas Fish Port but could not present permits for it.
Both vessels are owned by Megapower Petroleum and Shipping Corp. accredited as a domestic shipping company by the Maritime Industry Authority or Marina.
Intelligence Group deputy commissioner Juvymax Uy gave assurance appropriate complaints will be filed against Megapower Petroleum’s directors, corporate officers and other responsible officers.
