NLEX Corporation has received the green light from the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) to implement a new toll rate structure for the NLEX Connector staring next week, October 15, 2024.
This adjustment is part of a phased approach to introduce the opening toll aimed at easing the financial impact on expressway users.
The current toll rates were first established in 2023, shortly after the opening of the Caloocan to España Section in March. Since then, the NLEX Connector has maintained a discounted rate, allowing motorists to traverse the expanded route without additional charges for nearly a year. The recent completion of the España to Magsaysay Boulevard Section in October 2023 enabled the expressway to retain these reduced rates until now.
Under the new toll matrix approved by the TRB, Class 1 vehicles, which include regular cars and SUVs, will pay a toll of P119. Class 2 vehicles, encompassing buses and small trucks, will be charged P299, while Class 3 vehicles, primarily large trucks, will pay a toll of P418.
The NLEX Connector has revolutionized travel for motorists journeying to and from Manila, slashing travel time between C3 in Caloocan and Magsaysay Boulevard to a mere seven minutes. This all-elevated expressway not only offers a crucial alternative route for all vehicle classes but has also significantly boosted job and business opportunities in the surrounding areas by enhancing accessibility.
The trucking and logistics sector has notably reaped the benefits of the NLEX Connector, as it provides a reliable, 24/7 alternative route free from truck bans. This improvement enhances the convenience of transporting goods and cargo, streamlining operations for logistics companies.
Additionally, the expressway facilitates easier commutes for residents of the North pursuing studies in Metro Manila, particularly in the University Belt, thus fostering greater educational access.
Notably, the NLEX Connector is implementing a barrierless toll system using 100 percent RFID technology, enabling faster transactions at toll plazas and further enhancing the travel experience for users.
As the full completion of the NLEX Connector Project nears, motorists can anticipate a more efficient and user-friendly expressway system, driving growth and connectivity across the region.
