MVP Group forms ‘strategic alliance’ among CIOs to boost data, AI capabilities

The MVP Group’s chief information officers (CIOs) have established a strategic alliance aimed at enhancing data and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities across the organization.

This initiative was announced during a meeting with chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, who emphasized the importance of using data to address critical societal issues.

“My challenge to you is not simply to handle data wisely and responsibly, but to leverage it to respond to the most pressing needs of our customers and our country,” Pangilinan said, underscoring the potential for technology to drive innovation and operational efficiency for Filipino customers.

The alliance includes key figures such as Rocky Bacani from Bayad, Francisco Castillo from Maynilad, Vicky De Leon from Mediaquest, and others who are part of the MVP CIO council. They aim to identify challenges and synergies while ensuring a commitment to data privacy and governance.

Bernadette C. Salinas, chief data officer at Kayana, said the collaboration will unlock new opportunities through shared insights across industries. Supported by investments from PLDT, Smart Communications, Meralco, and Metro Pacific Investment Corporation, Kayana is focused on empowering Filipinos and advancing the nation’s digital transformation.

In a recent development, PLDT announced that Meralco and MPIC have each entered into subscription agreements for 570 million additional common shares in Kayana, resulting in PLDT owning 45 percent of the company, with Meralco and MPIC each holding 27.5 percent.
