DITO Telecommunity Corp. unveiled an innovative home internet solution on Friday, leveraging its state-of-the-art 5G standalone network in collaboration with Huawei Technologies.
The launch introduces the world’s first 5G RedCap Wi-Fi designed specifically for residential use, promising internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
Evelyn Jimenez, DITO chief revenue officer for consumer business, emphasized the service’s potential to disrupt the current market landscape.
“Filipino households are often faced with limited internet options. Our goal with DITO Home WOWFi is to provide fast, unlimited, and affordable internet, changing the norm for many,” she said.
Jimenez expressed hope that the service would transform the way Filipinos interact with their home internet, offering a solution that meets diverse needs without compromise.
5G RedCap, a recent addition to the 5G family, operates exclusively on true 5G networks, ensuring enhanced capacity, lower latency, and improved overall quality compared to non-standalone systems. Huawei Technologies described this technology as balancing peak data rates and bandwidth efficiency, allowing it to cater to home users for the first time.
As the only telecommunications operator in the Philippines with a true 5G SA network, DITO aims to pioneer the future of smart home applications and support the growth of the digital economy, marking a significant step forward in internet connectivity for Filipino households.
