iPhone 16 demand in PH ‘continue to grow,’ telco says

Globe Telecom expects robust sales for the latest iPhone model in the Philippines, fueled by rising consumer demand.

“We are very happy with the turnout of our pre-orders. Every year, we see demand continue to grow,” said Eric Tanbauco, head of Globe’s consumer mobile business. He noted that last year the company expanded its pre-order locations from 10 to 13 stores nationwide, underscoring the strong interest from Filipino consumers.

As the first telecommunications provider to launch the iPhone in the Philippines in 2008, Globe is now set to enhance customer access with exclusive offers. “We are excited to roll out the All-New GPlan PLUS, featuring flexible payment options, exclusive discounts, trade-in opportunities, and lifestyle perks through Globe Rewards,” Tanbauco said.

In a related initiative, Globe has partnered with CompAsia, a leading tech e-store, allowing new and renewing Globe postpaid customers to trade in old devices for cashback. This program, which covers brands like iPhone, Samsung, and Huawei, aligns with Globe’s commitment to minimizing e-waste as part of its Net Zero goals.

“We are proud of our enduring partnership with Globe for a device circularity program that minimizes e-waste and its impact on the planet,” said Henry Ng, associate director at CompAsia. “Our Trade-In Program offers a sustainable solution by giving old devices a new lease on life. By trading in your old iPhone, you can receive cashback to offset your Globe postpaid bill, benefiting both your wallet and the environment.”

According to GSMA, using refurbished devices can result in an 87 percent lower climate impact than new ones, making this initiative a win-win for consumers and the planet.
