Maynilad partners with Caloocan LGU to enhance water management

Maynilad Water Services Inc. has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Caloocan local government unit (LGU) to enhance water management and minimize water loss over the next three years.

In a statement, Maynilad said the Caloocan LGU has pledged to expedite the permitting process for the company’s non-revenue water (NRW) initiatives, committing to issue the necessary permit within seven days of receiving complete documentation.

The MOU was signed by Ryan Jamora, Maynilad central NRW division head, and Caloocan City mayor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan. The agreement aims to accelerate critical water loss recovery projects, allowing for more efficient leak repairs and quicker project execution.

Jamora said previous delays in permit issuance have hindered NRW recovery efforts. “This partnership will streamline the process for obtaining road work permits, enabling us to implement essential projects for water loss recovery and service level enhancement. We are grateful to the Caloocan LGU for their support, which will be instrumental in accelerating our NRW recovery initiatives,” he said.

As part of the agreement, Maynilad will undertake pipe replacement and leakage control programs. The company is also in discussions to establish similar partnerships with other LGUs in its concession area, aiming to further streamline permit processing for NRW recovery projects.

Additionally, Maynilad is collaborating with the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of the Interior and Local Government to bolster support for these initiatives.

As the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines, Maynilad serves a vast customer base across Manila, Quezon City, Makati, Caloocan, and several other cities and towns in Cavite Province.
