Globe prepares Luzon facilities for Severe Storm Pepito

Globe Telecom is on high alert as it braces for the impending impact of Severe Tropical Storm Pepito, which entered the Philippine area of responsibility late Thursday night. The weather system, currently tracking west-southwest, is expected to intensify rapidly and could potentially become a Super Typhoon before making landfall, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In anticipation of the storm’s effects, Globe’s network teams have prepositioned personnel, supplies, and backup power sources—such as generators and batteries—across key areas in Southern and Central Luzon and Eastern Visayas. The move is designed to minimize service disruptions, particularly in the event of widespread power outages caused by the typhoon’s strong winds and heavy rains.

“Our teams are getting ready for Pepito, with supplies and manpower in position as we brace for impact,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe chief sustainability and corporate communications officer. “While it is inevitable that power outages and ground conditions could cause service disruptions, our goal is to restore connectivity as quickly as possible once the weather permits.”

The telecom giant also urged communities in Pepito’s projected path to prepare for the storm by securing essential supplies such as food, water, medicine, and emergency lighting. Globe reminded customers to charge their mobile devices in advance and stay informed through legitimate weather sources. The company is providing free access to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s (NDRRMC) website for up-to-date information on the storm.

In addition, Globe is encouraging its customers to contribute to relief efforts through the GlobeOne app by donating Globe Rewards points to support communities still recovering from recent storms.

As the country grapples with the aftermath of successive weather systems, Globe continues to prioritize service continuity and community support in times of crisis.
